Original Flying Fish ship History:
The Flying Fish was built and launched in Massachusetts, USA in 1860 as a 150-ton vessel with a deck length of just under seventy-nine feet long. She was one of the fastest ships afloat
She was armed with ten 9 pounders guns or 12 pounders carronades,
This famous two-masted schooner was designed by renowned
shipbuilder, Jeremiah Burnham. Her design has dominated the schooner class. To
this day, it remains a very popular model, which is frequently built.
Kipling wrote about the Flying Fish and she was later featured in the film
“Captain Courageous” .
